Oman´s way to directly interact with people is by producing ist own sounds,
singing and speaking. Sampled (Real) human voice is assembled into centances
and spoken by re-pitching whole centances. Audio is produced and received from
4 different input elements.
VISION
======
Video cameras are present in Oman to enable the functionality of simplistic
machine vision, as well to enable video & stills photography.
The Cameras are mounted on a round base covering 180 degrees of moovment.
Oman's vision is designed to follow outlines and to recognize oval shapes and
point light sources.
SAFETY
======
Low level software modules run on several computers and work together so that
for each task a unique circuitry isin control, the result is a failure proof
cellular system.
GLOBAL POSITIONING AND ORIENTATION

Global data input (spatial and timing signals collected by GPS device) are
interfaced with the local sensory and are fed back into Oman’s conditioned
emotional response to generate an actual orientation relative to Oman's
artistic goals in its artificial yet real life.
A position in present time and space causes a measurable 'satisfaction'
level which in turn tunes its future aim and target orientation. Oman's
'fear', 'alarm' and 'horror' feelings are hardware based, while feelings
like 'love' or 'timidness' are a result of differential computation;
The limited ability of the robot to select and define areas of expression
is supplemented by integrated media communications technologies such as
global positioning system, wireless network, telephone, web server,
audio-visual input and output devices
Global sensory inputs are transformed into useful orientation by placing
it into a contextual data set. Electronic local and shared calendar/agenda,
yellow pages and online telephone book, location based annotation schema,
online and internal city map, online timetables etc. The actual planning of
movement can be directly computed from the results. differential GPS (enables
to read a global position of Oman in accuracy of 10 meters world wide)
integrated GSM cellular phone (enables cell information in accuracy of ~500
meters within a known network providers map) radio clock (GPS system makes
available a timing signal with very high accuracy. time of day, and date
information is constantly available for Oman)
